Workout Playlist #43

1) Clean Bandit – Rather Be

Why not start out with a funky dance track? This one is getting a lot of play on the radio lately, but it somewhat smacks of the 80’s to me.

2) Catfish and the Bottlemen – Kathleen

The award for most cumbersome band name goes to Catfish and the Bottlemen, but this song is far from cumbersome.

3) The Griswolds – Beware the Dog

Between the avalanche of drumbeats and the luau-inspired steel guitar melody, this song takes you for a ride.

4) Lips are Movin’ – Meghan Trainor

If you don’t think this song is catchy, you’re entitled to your wrong opinion.

5) Ozzy Osbourne – Shot in the Dark

Why is it that I can understand every word when Ozzy sings, but when he speaks it’s like listening to the Swedish Chef talk through a mouthful of mashed potatoes?

6) Jimmy Eat World – Bleed American

One of their harder, more dissonant anthems from their iconic first album, it’s always been one of my favorites.

7) Aretha Franklin – Since You’ve Been Gone

Sing it, girl.

8) The Killers – All These Things That I’ve Done

You’ve got soul… but you could be a soldier, too, if you wanted.

9) Sheppard – Geronimo

Bombs away, indeed.

10) Red Hot Chili Peppers – Tell Me Baby

I love the shifts in this song, from pensive and rolling to twangy and syncopated and back again.

Total playlist time: 35:16
