Workout Playlist #24

1) The Cars – Just What I Needed

Bet you didn’t know this was by The Cars! They are so versatile and perfect for a cardio session.

2) Starship – We Built This City

I sing this to my boyfriend’s cat all the time, replacing the word “city” with “kitty.” She clearly loves it. She sinks her needle-sharp claws into my flesh extra hard and gazes at me adoringly.

3) Def Leppard – Pour Some Sugar on Me

Nothing sexier than that chorus.

4) Guns N Roses – Welcome to the Jungle

Axl’s dulcet tones are the ultimate motivator.

5) Garbage – Shut Your Mouth

Shirley Manson is probably the hottest person alive and makes great music.

6) Van Halen – You Really Got Me

I’m in a twangy, harsh rock-guitar phase lately. And Van Halen always has a catchy drumbeat to accompany it.

7) The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – The Impression That I Get

TMMB manages to incorporate fun ska influences into multiharmonic, complex rock foundations.

8) Savages – She Will

Savages will make you feel like you should be in a dark, smoky London nightclub in 1987, wearing your best falsies and buzzed on cheap tequila.

9) Blink 182 – First Date

I know it’s like I can’t make a playlist without including Blink, but this song is probably their best work.

10) New Politics – Harlem

If Passion Pit actually knew how to write a good song and had an angsty, energetic vocalist, they might sound like New Politics. You’ll love the variety and upbeat, compelling feel of this jam.

Total playlist time:  36:06
